Ode to a Credit Union

Oh First New York, FCU!
Do you know how I love you?
My banking institution of choice,
My poem gives that idea voice.

Once my smart and wise mother said to me,
You need to sign up for an account, free!
With my paltry high school job paycheck
We drove down to First New York on our trek

It’s a bank that is member owned
My mother began to intone
Where other banks are out for a profit
Saying with their fees “cough it”

Credit Unions are there for the average Joe
This empowers people to profit, reap and sow.
We signed up for my free banking account
I was treated well, even with my paltry amount

Since that day it’s been fourteen years
And I’ve moved between careers
The economy has done flip-flops
Commercial banks have met with cops

Yet through change one thing remains true
My FCU will be there through and through
There to help me buy a home, pay for college
Or finance other things that need major dollarage

First New York FCU!
Thank you for being you!
My bank, my partner, my friend
To thee, my grateful thanks I send!

"Our credit union is great because it went above and beyond the call of duty during a very crucial and important time in my family’s life. My family had to leave the house we called home, after 20 years, when our landlord told us he was selling the property and we had to move! Time was not on our side and we were worried that we would become homeless! The Mortgage Loan officer at AmeriCU Credit Union in Rome, NY, did NOT stop helping us achieve that goal. Cindy was always readily available for us, day or night to answer any questions we had as first time homebuyers. She even went as far as giving us her personal cell phone number. We were able to contact her on the spot, whenever we had an interest in a home. She was quickly able to tell us how much our payments would be, our interest rate etc. She always had our best interest at heart. Thanks to our Credit Union, our goal was reached. We not only found our dream home, but we were able to close and move in, all within a months time! My family and I cannot be more grateful to our Credit Union for being there and showing us how much they cared about us, not only as customers but as friends, during what could have been a very, stressful time in our lives!"

"I recently dropped 286 bucks worth of coins smack dab in the middle of the lobby at rush hour.They scattered everywhere. As I was embarrassingly on my hands and knees picking up the little buggers, a Hiway Federal Credit Union employee swung into action and helped sweep them towards me. He was the only person to help. This Credit Union always flies above our expectations. I'm sure the video of this episode was caught by the security cameras. Hopefully, it will never be seen by anyone. Great memories though."

"After my divorce, I had no credit and my 2 sons and I moved back home to Fort Walton Beach. My father was a member and suggested I join and start saving - I did. After about 2 years saving, I applied for a credit card. After looking at my savings efforts EFCU gave me the first credit card I had ever had in my name only. I still have it as my main card. No annual fee and a really great rate! I have always worked at a bank and could not have gotten such a good card! I in turn have told my niece and brother to join. "I have been a member of Kennedy Space Federal Credit Union since June 1995. My mother was a member until her death in 2007. My sister who currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia is still a member and my daughter who was just a baby when I became a member and is now married, is also a member. I have had all of my vehicles, including the one I’m driving now, financed with KSCFCU. I will be looking to purchase my fourth vehicle in the near future and I will be looking no further than my own neighborhood financial institution – Kennedy Space Center Federal Credit Union.

I currently have a small loan that I had to get at the last minute for my daughter’s wedding and with no problem, I was approved. I have no worries when I visit my credit union that all of my loan needs will be met. I don’t believe I have ever been denied a loan. The interest rates are competitive with other credit unions in the area. I trust my credit union and I believe they love me because they have taken care of me for so many years. I am a member for life!"

"I joined the PFCU when I was stationed in the U.S. Air Force and have continued to keep them as my financial institution for over 30 years. When my son got married he and his wife opened there first joint accounts with PFCU so we are now a 2nd generation of satisfied clients.

The most wonderful thing about my credit union is the branch where I do my banking is small enough that everyone who works there knows me by name. Additionaly I love the flexibility with which I can set up my automatic deposits and loan payment options.

PFCU holds my mortgage and I have financed 3 new cars with them and currently have a new truck and boat financed. 

In over 30 years I have never had problem with any account or transaction. I think that says a lot about the high quality of their personnel and commitment to their customer."
